Tennessee Needs Passenger Rail, and TARP has been a voice for that since 1979.

Our work is making a difference in small, but effective ways:
- TARP Members were front and center with the commuter rail experiment that became the Music City Star
- TARP Members led the charge to turn Memphis Central Station into an invaluable rail station and community asset
- TARP members wrote letters and contacted officials to get a major rail infrastructure repair project under way in Memphis to preserve the existing passenger rail service to Tennessee's largest city
- TARP encouraged Amtrak to expand their Thruway Bus connections to cities in Tennessee
There's plenty more to be done!
The passenger rail revival is coming to Tennessee, and TARP members are already hard at work!
The passenger rail revival is coming to Tennessee, and TARP members are already hard at work!
- We're in partnership with the Virginia Association of Railway Patrons to expand the Commonwealth's state rail network to Bristol so that East Tennessee can push for further expansion.
- We're behind efforts in West Tennessee to get a daytime Chicago-Memphis train in place to supplement the existing overnight schedule
- We're working with Amtrak to identity more potential Thruway Bus connections
- We're on board with Chattanooga officials studying ways to turn existing railroad tracks in the Scenic City into an area rail service
