Tennessee's lawmakers need to hear from you!

As a citizen with transportation needs, as a taxpayer, and a voter, you have a voice! It is very important that you write a letter to both of your US Senators, your US House member, your State Senator, and your State Representative at least once per year, and especially when issues of passenger rail are being debated! Here are some suggestions on how to make your letter as effective as possible:

• Be concise and to the point!

  Letters that are lengthy and covering too many issues at the same time won't get your point across.

• Send it by fax!

  Letters by mail, especially to Washington, are subject to delay due to a lengthy, but necessary, security inspection.

• State factual information!

  Show them that your opinion is well-thought and not based simply on what you feel.

• Be polite!

  "Hot" letters don't have an impact.
